The sites that make you disable it are adfly/shorte that people sometimes use on their downloads so it might pop up after you click the download button but only if the creator put it there. I’ve been using adblock for years and never did I have to disable it to reach simsdom. Also, I saw some comments under that post that the site tells you to disable adblock in order to view it. As far as I’m aware the only ads are on the simsdom main site (no pop-ups or any shit like that) and there’s nothing wrong with that. The suggested items lead straight to the creator’s site/blog etc where they put their download. I have adblock but I turned it off just to test if it really makes you go through an ad when you click on a download button on a suggested cc.
